Q&A

Q: Why is the application not self tuning? Why do I have to press a button to select a note first?

A: The self tuning is possible, but it has the downside that it lowers the accuracy. The microphone and speaker used on the smartphones are not professional grade devices. This is visible especially at lower frequencies, where the microphone and the analog-digital converter have a clear cutoff between the 2nd and 3rd octave. The end result of this is that, for certain frequencies, the first harmonic is much weaker than the 2nd or even the 3rd. The application algorithm would have a hard time deciding what harmonic you are trying to tune to.

Q: I am trying to use the tuning fork and I can't hear any sound.

A: Make sure your phone is not on mute, but beyond that, the current smartphone speakers have difficulties reproducing sounds from the 3rd octave and lower. You may need an external speaker for an accurate sound reproduction.

Q: I need a new temperament or I have a request for improvement.

A: Shoot me an email from the "About" page, and I will try to contact you as soon as possible.
